EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS:
A free on-line course that teaches the basics of LEGO NXT Robot Programming
The Rowan University Laboratory for Educational Robotics has developed a new course designed to give K-12 educators a gentle introduction to the NXT-G programming language. NXT-G is a scratch-like visual programming language that (combined with the physicality of a robot and the familiarity that most people have with LEGO) we hope will be attractive to people who are new to programming.
Each lesson in this five week course consists of a series of short (typically 5-10 minute) video clips, self test questions, and robot projects. The first week does not require any special hardware, but after week 1 you'll need a LEGO NXT robot and software to complete all the exercises. While the course was designed specifically for K-12 teachers, it is free and open to anyone who is interested in learning about LEGO NXT robotics thanks to the support of Google's CS4HS program. The course will be starting in a few weeks. Preregister now and we'll send you an email when we're ready to begin.
